Mom JAILED for letting 4 yr old eat POT BROWNIE

SAN FRANCISCO - A 4 year old should be allowed to eat a pot brownie, a South City mom allegedly told cops.

Marisela Guadalupe Barraza, 19, was arrested Monday, the day after her 4-year-old daughter ate one of her marijuana brownies, authorities said. Cops were notified after Barraza’s sister brought the child to the hospital.

Barraza allegedly told officers that it was not her fault because her child “ate it before she could stop her.” She also stated that it was “no big deal” and “marijuana should be legalized,” according to San Mateo County prosecutors.

After the child ate the brownie Sunday, Barraza brought her daughter to her sister’s house. Her sister noticed the child had “slow speech, droopy eyelids” and was “acting strangely,” San Mateo County Chief Deputy District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said.

Barraza and her daughter spent the night at the 21-year-old sister’s home. Her sister brought the child to the hospital the next day, after consulting her mother while Barraza had temporarily left the home.

Blood tests showed marijuana in the child’s system, Wagstaffe said.

Cops were called. The sister told police that Barazza “was addicted to marijuana and acted irresponsibly with the child on prior occasions,” Wagstaffe said.

Barazza pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor child endangerment charge Wednesday. The case was set for jury trial on Oct. 25.

The mother remains in custody on $7,500 bail

Dad pleads guilty to stashing marijuana in Elmo book bag

Dumb AZZ of the WEEK

A Fayette County man this morning pleaded guilty to stashing marijuana in his son's Elmo bookbag, but he told a judge he couldn't recall exactly when he placed the drugs in the bag.

Ronald Jacob Washington, 34, of 6 Wilson Ave., Uniontown, pleaded guilty to charges of endangering the welfare of children, possession, possession with intent to deliver and disorderly conduct.

In exchange for his guilty pleas, he is to be sentenced next week to six to 24 months in prison, according to a plea offer by District Attorney Jack Heneks.

Uniontown Area School District officials discovered the marijuana April 8, after Washington called Menallen Elementary at 8:15 a.m. to ask whether his son had arrived yet for kindergarten, state police said in a criminal complaint. When the school confirmed the boy's arrival, Washington indicated he needed to retrieve something from the boy's bookbag.

School staffers were suspicious and searched the bag. They summoned police after finding the suspected marijuana.

Trooper Timothy G. Selden reported that when he arrived at the school, he noticed a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the bag. Upon searching it, he discovered two clear plastic sandwich bags containing approximately 105 grams of marijuana — nearly 4 ounces — next to the child's homework.

By then, Washington had arrived and was outside the school talking on a cell phone.

"I proceeded to tell Ronald Washington what had taken place, and he said, 'It was something dumb,'" Selden wrote in the complaint.

Washington is in the Fayette County Prison in lieu of $100,000 bond.

City wants to ban “synthetic marijuana”

The legal sale of “K2” and “Spice” could go up in smoke in the Brew City. Also known as synthetic marijuana, the “incense” is sold as at area head shops and convenience stores. But it’s hit the radar screen of Milwaukee aldermen who want to ban it – and punish users and sellers with fines and jail time.

Three grams of K2 sells for about $40. Smoking the substance, which is often green-colored, creates a brief but intense high. But some say it’s dangerous and have linked the drug to an Iowa suicide and a fatal car accident in Waukesha.

READ THE REST HERE

Why in the hell would anyone want to smoke K2 or fake ass weed anywayz... 40 for 3 grams, hell I might as well get the real thing.

Marijuana Tracking?

Colorado wants to set up a first-in-the-nation tracking system of medical marijuana purchases to deter people from buying vast amounts of pot and selling it on the black market.

Officials are also considering fingerprinting marijuana patients and keeping tabs on pot with radio-frequency devices.

Medical marijuana has been legal in Colorado since 2000, but the recent proliferation of marijuana dispensaries prompted state lawmakers this year to pass a series of new regulations.

Pace University student shot to death in drug deal gone bad

A Pace University student was shot to death Wednesday morning in the posh Financial District apartment he used to deal drugs, witnesses and police sources said.

Investigators said Maximillion Moreno, 21, sold marijuana to a man and a woman at his tony 37th-floor apartment on Gold St. just after midnight, Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said.

The pot-seeking couple opened the door to leave and two men - one with a weapon - burst inside. A witness told police the suspects screamed, "Give me the stuff! Give me the stuff!"

When Moreno refused to give up any money, the gunman pulled the trigger.

"He fires once and the safety is on, so it just clicks," according to a police source. "He fired again and the gun went off."

With a deafening roar, a single bullet hit Moreno in the left temple, sending the student crashing to the floor.

The suspects ran from the apartment and escaped despite a brief confrontation in the hallway with an off-duty member of the Erie County Sheriff's Department who was visiting someone in the building, Kelly said.

Investigators were exploring whether the couple that bought drugs moments before the murder was involved in the robbery, police sources said. Police haven't found the couple.

"The detectives are investigating whether this was set up," a police source said. It was not immediately clear if the suspects made off with any drugs or money, police said.

Lights flashing and sirens screaming, dozens of police cars swarmed the high-rise, where one-bedroom apartments rent for $2,300 a month.

"They brought the guy out on a stretcher," said one shaken resident who did not give his name. "He had a towel around his head and there was tons of blood coming from his head."

Paramedics sped Moreno to Bellevue Hospital but he could not be saved.

"My boy is dying!" wailed a friend who gathered outside the building after news of the shooting spread.

Moreno was a marketing/marketing management student in the Lubin School of Business, according to the Pace University directory. He was set to graduate in 2011.

"Pace University is shocked and deeply saddened by news of the death of Max Moreno," said Stephen Friedman, the president of Pace. "We extend our community's deepest sympathies to his family members and friends."

Moreno graduated from Matawan Regional High School in New Jersey, according to his Facebook page.

Kelly said investigators believe Moreno and another man used the flashy off-campus apartment to sell drugs.

A cousin of the dead man insisted Moreno stayed out of trouble.

"He was a fragile kid, always into doing the right thing at school and staying out of trouble," said the distraught cousin, who would not give his name.

The cousin said Moreno worked an after-school job to pay for the expensive apartment - but did not know the nature of his employment.

"He was definitely working a legitimate job," the cousin vowed. "He was trying to do the right thing."

School District Pays for Strip Search for Marijuana

A New Hampshire school district agreed to pay ONLY $2,500 to Kristina Roderick who was a female former student forced to partially undress in front of two male teachers who were searching her clothing for evidence of drugs.

The incident happened in 2004 the freshman at Spaulding High in Rochester, was suspected of giving weed to someone. John Eliopoulos who was her teacher called her out, and took her to a conference room to search her.

Another teacher was also there, Richard Towne, helping with the search. She was ordered to remove her shoes and her sweatshirt so the men could search the shoes and pockets for the contraband. She protested that she was wearing only a small tank top underneath the sweatshirt. The tank top was a "Joe Boxer spaghetti strap cropped undergarment," according to Roderick's suit, filed in New Hampshire's Strafford County Superior Court and later moved to federal court. The suit claimed the male teachers insisted, nonetheless, that the girl remove the sweatshirt and give it up for inspection. No marijuana or other contraband was found by the teachers. Dumb Ass teachers.

"At no time during the strip search of the plaintiff's upper body did defendants Eliopoulos or Towne call a female school official or female resource officer to assist in the search of the plaintiff," Roderick's suit claimed.

The settlement was paid by the school's insurance company, Primex, a public insurance pool, the Union Leader reported. Neither Roderick's attorney, Michael Seaton, nor Superintendent of Schools Michael Hopkins responded to the paper's request for comments about the incident and the settlement. The school district and the teachers named as defendants in the suit deny all liability, wrongdoing, and responsibility, according to the agreement.

Ad man turned drug mule is ready to do his time

Ad man turned drug mule is ready to do his time.
Five years ago, Chris Neary was a rising star in the world of marketing, pulling down a six-figure salary and running a successful campaign for Telus with its animal-themed series of TV ads.

Today he’s awaiting the start of an eight-month sentence for conspiracy to import and distribute marijuana in the United States.

“I’m not happy about it, but I know it could have been be a lot worse,” Mr. Neary said in an interview a few days before he was sentenced Friday in U.S. District Court in Seattle. “I’m comfortable that I can serve the time and still have all my faculties so when I come out I can use it as a springboard to something great.”

Mr. Neary, the owner of Vancouver ad agency Frank Communications and former director of marketing for Telus, was arrested on April 26, along with four other men, after hiking 16 hours through the rugged Washington state wilderness with a 15-kilogram pack full of marijuana on his back

Voters leaning toward legalizing marijuana

California voters are leaning toward making the Golden State the first state in the nation to legalize marijuana for recreational use.

Pot Dispensary Robbed In Northeast Denver

Here's the stolen SUV

Here's the suspect holding the woman at gunpoint

A medical marijuana store was robbed in the middle of the afternoon on Friday. The person in charge of the store was forced to the ground at gunpoint.

Two suspects are still one the loose.

The store, called Cannicopia, is located near the intersection of 39th and Elm Street in northeast Denver. The suspects pulled in front of the store around 1:30 p.m. The stolen car they were in was caught on surveillance video.

One man essentially fooled the woman inside into letting him through the door by saying he had his paperwork and identification and was there as a client. The woman was just watching the store for about a half hour for the owner, though she recognized the man and buzzed him in. The man then put a gun to her face, keeping her on the ground while another man took marijuana, money, and other items.

The owner said although he's only heard of a few stores in his area being robbed, he believes that dispensaries are high targets because of what they carry inside.

"I feel like some people are out there to get dispensaries because of what they've heard about them having millions and millions of dollars," owner Jarrod Harkin said. "Here's the real reality for everybody that's out there -- there are maybe a few of them in our state that are operating at that level and the rest of us are just small business owners that are trying to operate legitimately and help people out. Nobody's making any profit, they're still just breaking even and that is the median."

Denver police said they're making progress on the case, but do ask if anyone has information to call them.

Although many police agencies feared robberies would be prevalent once dispensaries opened, Denver officers say they're currently not a chronic problem in the city.
